Job description of Air Evacuation Paramedic

Complete Emergency Medical Technician Training
First of all, you may begin your education by obtaining the Basic Life Support (BLS) and Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certifications. You can have these lessons while still in high school. Moreover, you may need to attend an EMT-Basic certificate program at a community, technical or vocational college. In this program, you will learn about basic life support, lifting and moving patients, patient assessment, airway management and ambulance operations.

Paramedic Training & Certification
To take the NREMT certification examination, the paramedics should complete a minimum of 1200 hours of training. It takes 7 month paramedic training program consists of classroom study, supervised clinical rotations and a supervised internship with an emergency response crew. After completing all of those programs, attendance will be eligible for national certification as a paramedic. At the end of the program, a written examination testing knowledge of areas such as patient airway, trauma and cardiology medical and emergency operations for adult and pediatric patients will be performed. Furthermore, a hands-on test involving patient assessment, trauma, ventilator management, cardiac, management and communication skills are also included.
