Advantages
As there are so many different medical diseases and conditions, Med-surg should develop a broad knowledge. By this knowledge, they can carry out excellent patient teaching. In fact, they also should be highly skilled in assessing small changes in a patient’s condition to avoid serious problems from developing.

Disadvantages
Suddenly you will be insanely busy as you will be overwhelmed with so many tasks. If you do not pace, patient’s fretfulness and hospital politics can lead to burn out. Therefore, a med-surgical nurse should find a solution to get away from their fuss routine. Playing with kids, spending time with family, pursuing a hobby or get a massage can be a sweet escape from their daily routine. Moreover, a med-surgical nurse should work in shift, so keeping your health on top will be necessary.

Qualities that a Med-Surg Nurse Should Have
As you will face many things, so having a sense of humor will certainly help you to go through the hardships. Besides, having a great confidence is also another important point that any med-surg should have as you have to perform many skills and put your patients at ease.
